Tigerinsure Travel Insurance

Who provides my Tigerinsure cover?

Cover is especially designed for Tigerair customers by Tigerair in partnership with Chubb Insurance Australia Limited (Chubb). Chubb is the insurer of the product and Tigerair is the promoter.
 

How do I purchase Tigerinsure?

You can purchase a Policy by adding it to your Tigerair Travel Itinerary when purchasing a ticket for an domestic flight within Australia through www.tigerair.com or at a later date by visiting www.tigerair.com.*
 

Does Tigerinsure or enforce an age limit?

Yes. Tigerinsure provides cover to persons aged from 9 days, there is no upper age limit. Cover for Infant Children aged 9 days to 24 months is limited to one Infant Child per one Insured person aged 12 years or over, provided You are travelling together on the Journey or One Way Trip.*

Does Tigerinsure cover sports and other similar activities?

No, your Tigerinsure does not provide cover for claims arising from most sporting activities.*
 

If I am travelling with my friend, do we both need to buy separate Policies?

You can purchase one Policy to cover you and your Travelling Companion provided you are travelling together on the Journey or One Way Trip.*
 

Can I still buy Tigerinsure if I have a Pre-existing Medical Condition?

Yes, you can purchase Tigerinsure for a return Journey or One Way Trip if you have a Pre-Existing Medical Condition. However, claims arising from Pre-Existing Medical Conditions are excluded, unless the Pre-Existing Medical Condition falls within the list of approved medical conditions set out in Section 8 of the Tigerinsure Policy Wording and Product Disclosure Statement*
A "Pre-existing Medical Condition" refers to any physical defect, condition, illness or disease for which treatment, medication or advice (including investigation) has been received or prescribed by a Doctor or dentist prior to the issue of the Policy, or any condition the manifestation or symptoms of which a reasonable person in the circumstances would be expected to be aware at the Booking Date *.
 

Do I need a medical examination to apply for Tigerinsure?

No. A medical examination is not required. However, please note that claims arising from Pre-Existing Medical Conditions are excluded under Tigerinsure and , except claims arising from the approved Pre-Existing Medical Conditions.* Please see FAQ 8 for more information.
 

Can I pay extra to cover pre-existing medical conditions?

No, there is no option to pay extra to obtain cover for Pre-Existing Medical Conditions under Tigerinsure.
 

Can luggage cover under Tigerinsure be increased?

No, there is no option to increase the cover provided for luggage, or any of the other benefits.
 

Is a video camera or any other item on loan or hire for the Journey or One Way Trip covered if I purchase a Tigerinsure Policy?

For Australia only:

There is no cover if your Policy covers Australia only.
 

Are gifts and articles purchased during the Journey under Tigerinsure covered?

Yes they are covered, subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions outlined in the PDS.*
 

Would a suitcase shipped home early to save costs on excess baggage be covered under Tigerinsure?

No, any unaccompanied luggage is not covered unless transported by the carrier with whom you are travelling and arranged in connection with your travel ticket.
 

If the Customs Department were to take wooden carvings and stuffed animals from me, could I make a claim under Tigerinsure?

No, cover for claims arising from confiscation by authorities is excluded.
 

Is luggage that is locked in the boot of a car covered under Tigerinsure?

For Australia only:

There is no cover if you purchase Tigerinsure for travel in Australia
 

Can I amend my Tigerinsure Policy?

Yes, you are allowed to make changes to some aspects of your Policy within the 14-day cooling-off period, before you commence your trip. For example, you can change your plan option, or travel period options, or you can cancel the Policy. However, after this period, the Policy is considered non-refundable and if you change your travel plans, you will need to purchase a new Policy.
 

Can I purchase Tigerinsure if I am not a resident of Australia?

You can purchase a Policy even if you are not Australian and/or do not live in Australia as long as you have purchased a ticket from Tigerair for a domestic flight departing from Australia.
 

Am I still covered by Tigerinsure if I catch a connecting flight to a different destination?

Coverage is limited to Tigerair flights, to the destination noted on your Tigerair ticket.*
 

If a natural disaster hits the country I'm just about to visit, if I had cover under a Tigerinsure International Policy, could I cancel my Journey or One Way Trip and make a claim?

Yes, you could claim for travel cancellation expenses in these circumstances*

How do I file a claim?

Please download the Claim Form and fax or post the duly completed Claim Form, together with all supporting documents, to the fax number or address stated in the Claim Form.
 

How long does it take before my claims are processed?

Chubb strives to ensure all claims are processed within 10 days after the claim and all the required documents have been submitted.
 

What is the time limit for me to file a claim?

All claims must be submitted to Chubb within 30 days after the event giving rise to the claim, together with the supporting documents, unless this is not reasonably possible.
